In statements to the Saudi Al-Riyadiah newspaper, Abdullah stressed that the Arabization of names is a very important step towards establishing the Arabic language and the art of Arabic calligraphy, and enhancing its global spread.
Abdullah explained to the Saudi newspaper, saying: “Through our contact with foreign players during our previous practice of football, or even during international matches, we perceived a great interest from them in knowing the country’s culture and identity.”
He added, “We recently witnessed on social media the interaction of a number of foreign players with Saudi heritage and culture, and such a campaign will contribute to informing everyone about the initiative for the year of Arabic calligraphy 2020, and enhance our cultural identity and our Arabic language.”
The former star of victory indicated that football has recently received wide attention by various groups of society in Saudi Arabia, especially youth of both sexes, pointing out that targeting such a group through football is special, because it will contribute to the arrival of the initiative’s message.
