The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency “SAMA” intends to offer a 5-riyal denomination of Saudi Arabian currency made of polymer, in accordance with Article 4 of the Saudi Monetary System issued by Royal Decree No. 6.
SAMA stated that the design and colors of the 5 riyal category of polymer were taken into account, to be similar to the design and colors of the same paper category currently in circulation, made of cotton, taking into account the different industry techniques, technical specifications and security marks for this category.
It indicated that the initial quantities of the new category will be put into circulation as of Monday, along with the currently circulating 5 riyals category, and the rest of the sixth issue of the circulated banknotes, as legal official currency.
Sama confirmed that the new 5 riyal denomination was printed according to the latest standards in the field of polymer currency printing, as it is characterized by many technical specifications and high-quality security marks.
She pointed out that the design of this category included on the face of the paper the image of King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the image of the Shaybah field in the Empty Quarter, in addition to the shape of the transparent window that contains decorations derived from the logo of Vision 2030.
The back of the paper included a picture of a view of wildflowers from the Kingdom, in addition to the shape of a transparent window that contains decorations derived from the slogan of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
