The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency announced the launch of a five-riyal coin denomination of the Saudi currency made of polymer, to be the first Arab currency to be made from that material, which will be circulated tomorrow, Monday.
The Monetary Agency stated that the design and colors of the five-riyal category of polymer material were taken into account to be similar to the design and colors of the same paper class currently in circulation made of cotton, taking into account the different manufacturing techniques and technical specifications, and the security marks for this category, indicating that the initial quantities of the new category will be offered. To trade alongside the five-riyal denomination currently in circulation, and the remaining denominations of the Sixth Edition of banknotes in circulation, as official legal currency.
The Saudi Monetary Agency confirmed that the new five-riyal denomination has been printed according to the latest standards in the field of polymer currency printing, as it is characterized by many technical specifications and high-quality security marks.
She indicated that the design of this category included on the face of the paper the image of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, the image of the Shaybah field in the Empty Quarter, in addition to the shape of the transparent window that contains decorations derived from the logo of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 2030, while the back of the paper included an image of a landscape of wild flowers.
