Jeddah - Yasmine El Tohamy - JEDDAH: Teachers and leaders from private and international schools came together at Elaf Hotel in Jeddah on Saturday to exchange experiences and discuss ways to improve the learning process.
The one-day conference, titled “Making Education Happen,” is the second such event organized by Emkan Education, a private company that focuses on human capital consultancy and education development.
“From our experience at Emkan, we found that there are very distinguished educational practices in the public and private sectors, but they do not appear on the surface. Therefore educators cannot benefit from them,” said Dr. Mounira Jamjoom, co-founder and CEO of Emkan Education.
Jamjoum said: “Around 150 educational leaders and educators are here today not to embrace competition between schools ... our goal instead is to exchange distinctive educational experiences and practices to improve the quality of education.”
This year’s focus was on overcoming local challenges and provide recommendations to make deep learning happen in every school. It included a series of panel discussions and Arabic and English workshops presented by local and international experts in the field.
The topics ranged from educational leadership, integrating technology in the learning process and critical thinking to inclusive education, instructional practices in various subjects and the characteristics of Generation Z learners.
