Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - MANAMA — Bahrain and Qatar on Sunday condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks, accusing Tehran of violating their sovereignty, while the United Arab Emirates said missile threats detected overnight remained outside its borders.
Bahrain accused Iran of carrying out systematic aggression after missile and drone strikes targeted civilians.
In a statement, the Bahrain Defense Force said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed several treacherous Iranian aerial attacks.
"The armed forces, with all their forces and units, are at the highest level of readiness and ready to fulfill their defense duties in order to protect the country," it said.
The military urged residents to avoid approaching suspicious objects that may have resulted from the attacks and to report them immediately.
Qatar also strongly condemned the Iranian attacks, calling them "a flagrant violation" of its sovereignty and "a blatant breach" of international law.
Three people, including a child, were injured after Qatari air defenses intercepted incoming Iranian missiles early Sunday.
"The continuation of these attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation that will complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic endeavors aimed at achieving security and stability in the region," Qatar's Foreign Ministry said.
Doha held Tehran "fully legally responsible" for the attacks and their consequences, adding that Qatar reserves the "full right to respond" and take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.
The ministry also called for an immediate end to military actions threatening regional security and urged a return to dialogue and negotiations.
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates said missile threats detected early Sunday remained outside the country's borders.
"National monitoring and tracking systems are operating at the highest levels of readiness and efficiency around the clock," the UAE Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Iran said earlier Sunday that it had launched attacks against US military sites in several regional countries, including Bahrain and Qatar, in retaliation for US strikes on Iranian targets.
The latest escalation followed a third round of US military strikes against Iran after another Iranian attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
