TEHRAN, July 12 — Iran and Oman have agreed to continue consultations on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Sput ik/RIA Novosti reported today, citing Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
Previously, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the end of US interference in the region, adding that no vessel would be allowed to pass. Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Oman for talks on the Strait of Hormuz.
“Oman and Iran agreed to continue dialogue at the political, legal, and technical levels to reach a joint understanding regarding ensuring the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” Baghaei said, commenting on Araghchi’s visit to Oman, as quoted by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
The spokesman also added that the future management of the Strait of Hormuz should be determined by consultations between Iran and Oman, taking into account the situation of the last few months and the military actions of the US and Israel against Iran.
At the same time, he added that Qatar participated in the consultations as one of the mediating countries in the dialogue between Iran and the US. — Bernama
