Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - GAZA — Israeli airstrikes killed at least 14 Palestinians overnight and into Sunday across the Gaza Strip, according to local health officials, including a mother and her two children who died when a tent sheltering displaced people was hit in Deir al-Balah.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed the deaths of the woman, her two children, and another relative in the central Gaza city.

Separate strikes in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya area killed at least five others, including two women and a child, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Local hospitals reported five additional fatalities in separate attacks.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on the strikes.

Israel resumed its military campaign in Gaza in March following the collapse of a ceasefire, vowing to dismantle Hamas and recover the remaining 58 hostages taken during the group’s October 7, 2023, assault that left 1,200 Israelis dead.

Most of the hostages have since been released through negotiated deals, though Israeli officials believe around a third of those still in captivity remain alive.

Since the war began, more than 53,000 Palestinians have been killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

The Israeli offensive has devastated much of the territory and displaced approximately 90% of Gaza’s population of two million.

Israel has blocked the entry of food, medicine, and fuel for over two months, only allowing limited aid deliveries to resume last week.

The government has indicated its goal to establish full military control over Gaza and promote what it terms the voluntary relocation of much of the population — an initiative widely condemned by Palestinians and international legal experts as a likely violation of international law.

Israel maintains that it targets militant infrastructure and accuses Hamas of operating in densely populated civilian areas. Human rights organizations have continued to question the proportionality of Israeli military tactics.

Separately on Sunday, the Israeli military reported intercepting a missile launched by Yemen’s Houthi. The projectile triggered air raid sirens in Jerusalem and other regions, but no casualties or damage were reported.

The Houthis have regularly launched missiles at Israel and Red Sea shipping lanes, framing their actions as retaliation for the war in Gaza. Most of their maritime targets have had no direct ties to the conflict.

The United States suspended its airstrike campaign against the Houthis earlier this month after the group pledged to halt attacks on international shipping, though that truce did not extend to attacks on Israel. Agencies
