Athens – A girl was found bleeding and half unconscious in the toilet rooms of the Kara Tepe refugee camp on the Greek island of Lesbos. The Afghan child was believed to have been raped. It’s only 3 years old!

Camp doctors confirmed the incident on Monday evening and the Greek authorities have started investigations. An investigation by a forensic scientist to clarify the suspicion of rape is still pending.

After refugees, apparently out of desperation about their situation, set fire to the completely overcrowded wild Camp Moria three months ago, around 10,000 people initially lived in makeshift bamboo huts on a coastal road, the Greek military built the new camp on the Mediterranean Sea. Named: Kara Tepe.

The hope was that there would be less crime in the fenced camp with night curfew than in Moria.

In the 1000 white tents of Kara Tepe, the migrants and refugees, mainly from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, are now living in difficult conditions and waiting for their asylum procedures to be completed.

Electricity is in short supply, from 5.30 p.m. it is usually dark there. Cold gusts whip from the sea, as people who BILD met there three months ago report.
About 4,000 children also live in the military camp. One of them has now apparently been the victim of a terrible crime.

The Afghan Mohamed Bayad (30), who lives with his wife and daughter in the camp, told BILD on the phone: “I heard about the case. Life here is difficult, there are bad people. At night they drink alcohol that they buy at the nearby Lidl supermarket and cause problems. “

He hopes to get away from the island soon and be granted asylum on mainland Europe.
