Buy Playstation 5: when will you get more supplies?

In a recent interview, the head of Sony Interactive, Jim Ryan, speaks of the fact that “absolutely every console” has been sold. Consequently, you will no longer be able to buy a Playstation 5 this calendar year. This applies to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England, France and other countries in Europe – both online and in stores. In addition, many pre-orderers have to wait at least until the first week of December before they can hold their new console in their hands. The Gameswirtschaft website assumes that the PS5 will not be available again in online shops until the beginning of 2021, possibly not until March.

So far, there have been three options for pre-orderers to buy a PS5. On September 17th, September 25th and November 12th there was a brief chance to secure a Playstation 5. The lucky ones who managed to get hold of a PS5 have to wait until mid-December until their package with the Playstation 5 arrives. A new PS5 can only be bought if pre-orderers cancel their order. The official PS5 headset and the charging station for the Dualsense controller are currently also sold out in Germany.

The retailers themselves should announce when they can offer a new contingent of PS5 consoles. But in 2020 there will be nothing. It will be interesting to see whether the contingent delivered will be sufficient to meet all open pre-orders this year. On Ebay there are currently offers with new PS5 consoles at absolute moon prices. Such offers are dubious, sometimes even criminal, so that one should urgently refrain from them. In stationary retail there will still be no PS5 consoles to buy for the foreseeable future. The background to this is the global coronavirus pandemic, which not only leads to delays in the supply chain, but is also responsible for the fact that no PS5 consoles are available in retail stores. Sony wants to prevent long queues in shops and thus contribute to preventing the number of infections from increasing even further.
