The Lebanese Al-Akhbar newspaper revealed that 14 Lebanese were arrested in the United Arab Emirates, noting that they were arrested in two batches while practicing the hobby of football, about 9 days ago.

The newspaper said that “the detainees reside in the Emirates and their records do not bear any precedents in the Emirates or Lebanon,” indicating that among the detainees, seven are from the southern town of Shhour.

It stated that neither the Lebanese government nor any official body moved to follow up the issue of the detainees, who did not yet know any information about the reasons for their arrest, or their place of arrest.

The UAE authorities have not yet issued any comment on the matter.
