The intensification of the battle over the Al-Mas camp during the past few days came as a response to a new escalation attempt led by the “coalition” on the western front of Marib. According to sources close to Hadi’s government, the Chief of Staff in the latter’s forces, Major General Saghir bin Aziz, and the commander of the Saudi forces in Ma’rib (which was based in the camp as a headquarters that contained a number of military operations rooms), Brigadier General Ali Sayer Al-Anzi, mobilized more forces Militants from the tribes loyal to Riyadh carry out military attacks on the Al-Mukhdarah, Najd Al-Ataq and Al-Jafra fronts, which are strategic fronts with complex terrain that have fallen under the control of the army and the “popular committees” during the past months of this year. The gradual progress of the Sana’a forces prompted the Saudi side to withdraw all the Patriot batteries that the “coalition” had installed in the vicinity of “Almas” since 2017. It is noteworthy that the strategic camp was one of the most prominent camps belonging to the son of the former president, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, during 2010, and he was receiving dozens of American soldiers under the pretext of training Yemeni forces to “combat terrorism.” In February 2016, the missile force in Sana’a targeted the Saudi forces present in the camp with a “Tochka” missile, which is the second Russian “Tochka” missile to be used against enemy targets.
