A man who said “white matter” on the faces of protesters who had gathered in the Black Lives Matter Plaza in front of the White House was beaten and pushed against the “non-scalable” fence.
The protest “After you vote, take to the streets” was scheduled from 4:00 pm to 11:55 pm. Further measures are planned for Wednesday 4th November.
Despite previous peaceful actions in Washington DC, fighting broke out when the votes came in.
CBS reported that “some kind of smoke bomb” was fired and independent reporter Brendan Gutenschwager filmed a flag that was lit in the street.

An “argument” also broke out between protesters and bicycle patrol officers, with the crowd singing “back, back” before the police withdrew.
NBC reported that a “tense calm” had been restored.
Earlier this year, a man was arrested during the otherwise quiet protest in the square near St. John’s Episcopal Church, where Donald Trump was holding a Bible earlier this year.
The music stopped as the man was brought to the ground by the Metropolitan Police.
Warning: graphic language in the following video.
“We will begin this next phase of the electoral cycle on the streets,” the Shutdown DC website reads.
“We will have GoGo bands, salsa dancers, artists, cultural workers and a lot more. We will also follow the election results on big screens. The votes are yet to come, so this (probably) won’t be the time it will take to cause disruption in order to stop a coup – yet.
“But we’ll be in a good place to react to anything that could happen.”
A “non-scalable” fence was built around the White House.
Before that, protesters unfolded banners saying “Trump Read All The Time” and “Remove Trump”.
GUNS SEEN IN PORTLAND CROWD
Hundreds of people gathered in Portland on election night for a “unit march” by the Black Lives Matter to show solidarity with the state of Washington, California and Washington DC.
Participants reportedly told KPTV in Oregon that they were taking to the streets “no matter who is elected”. Journalist Breanna Kelly discovered “a number of people armed with guns in the crowd”.
“This is a choice like no other in our lives,” said Governor Kate Brown on Monday.
Businesses in the city center have come together to prepare for election-related violence.
“What concerns me most is the potential for armed clashes between opposing groups,” said Renn Cannon, special agent for the FBI Portland AFP.
“That could escalate into a dangerous situation in which – if the tempers are heated – one could suffer an unfortunate or tragic act of violence.”
A right-wing man was shot dead in downtown Portland in August when Trump supporters and counter-protesters clashed on the streets.
The crowd on Tuesday night shouted the names of people shot dead by police this year, including Kevin Peterson Jr. in Washington state, Walter Wallace Jr. in Philadelphia and Breonna Taylor in Kentucky.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who is also fighting for re-election, said there will be “no tolerance for violence, intimidation or criminal destruction.”
TRUMP TOWERS SECURED
At least five New York Police Department dump trucks and a bus were parked outside Trump Tower in Midtown, New York City. Thousands of police officers are “ready” for whatever happens on election night.
Access to the streets around Trump Tower in Chicago has also been blocked.
CBS reports that as a precaution, the Wabash Ave Bridge near Trump Tower was erected around 6:15 pm on Tuesday, “in anticipation of possible rioting.”
Emergency Management and Communications Bureau spokeswoman Mary May told the Chicago Sun Times It was closed “as part of a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of residents”.
In 2016, a barrier with sand-filled dump trucks was parked in front of Trump Tower in NYC before Donald Trump was elected President.
In an update in the middle of Election Day 2020, NYPD chief Terence A. Monahan said there were “no major incidents to be reported in the whole city”.
“And we don’t expect how the day will go on,” he said on Tuesday.
Chief Monahan said the officers had been stationed at every polling station since before 6 a.m.
“We will continue to have thousands of additional police officers ready during the night,” he said.
“My message to anyone who wants to cause violence and destruction is: don’t even try. We know who you are and you are under arrest.
“We are there for you for everyone who wants to protest peacefully in the coming days. But we also need your help. Let those trying to wreak havoc know they are not welcome. Don’t let them steal your message, break up with these agitators and we will take care of them. ”
Armed man in trump hat arrested
A man was arrested for trespassing in North Carolina after allegedly voting and “continuing to loiter” while legally carrying an unhidden gun on election day.
Charlotte Mecklenburg police said they had received a call regarding Justin Dunn “who may intimidate other voters.”
The 36-year-old wore a pro-Trump camouflage hat and no face mask.
BuzzFeed News reports that Mr. Dunn ran unsuccessfully as a Republican candidate for the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2016.
FBI INVESTIGATING SINISTER CALLS TO VOTERS
The FBI is investigating after voters in several states were inundated with mysterious robocalls telling them to “stay home and be safe” on election day in the US.
The calls were reported in battlefield states like Florida and Iowa, among others, while state officials in Michigan, Kansas and New York are also investigating.
Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel said Flint residents will be told “because of long lines, they should vote tomorrow” when the polls are closed.
“Obviously this is FALSE and an attempt to suppress the vote,” she said on Twitter.
“No long lines and today is the last day to vote. Don’t believe the lies! Let your voice be heard! ”
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer said the calls attempt to “confuse voters” and that polling lines across the state are “minimal and fast.”
New York attorney general Letitia James said, “Attempts to prevent voters from casting ballots by spreading misinformation are illegal and will not be tolerated.”
“That’s why I’m actively investigating robocalls that allegedly spread disinformation,” she said.
A senior cybersecurity and infrastructure security agency official told CNN that the FBI is investigating the “stay home and stay safe” calls and “they are following this issue.”
“Robocalls like this happen at every election, and I think it would be most helpful to reiterate this message to the American public that … they happen every election cycle,” he said.
“Look out for people who try to intimidate you, undermine your trust, but remain calm and vote on it.”
It is estimated that 10 million automated calls have been made in the past few days Die Washington Post.
The BBC reports that one of the calls contained a female voice that said, “Hello. This is just a test call. Time to stay home. Stay safe and stay home. ”
Giulia Porter, vice president of RoboKiller, said the call had been making the rounds for almost a year – amid the US coronavirus crisis – but became one of the biggest spam calls in the country on Tuesday.
Janaka Stucky, a Democratic voter from Massachusetts, told Reuters he received the call on election day.
“My first thought was that it was actually a community test call for a COVID lockdown,” he said.
“The more I thought about it, the more I felt really crazy and weird and then felt like some sort of election suppression measure.”
