As polls across America draw to a close, President Donald Trump approaches victory in the main battlefield state, Michigan.
If he wins, it will be the second major feather in the US president’s cap – after he prematurely defeated Florida, possibly the nation’s most important state.
The Palmer report, which provides political analysis, tweeted to remind people that most of the votes in Michigan so far have come from people who took the polls today.
“The numbers in these states are to be ignored until the mail-in votes are counted, which will not be the case for a while,” they wrote.
Mail-in voters are traditionally Democrats so if the count continues, the number should return to Mr Biden.

There may be 50 states in America, but when the votes are counted, only a handful of them – including Michigan – will decide who will win the presidential election.
In this election, 15 states fall into the Swing State or Battleground State category – which means they could potentially be won by Donald Trump or Joe Biden.
Incidentally, we already know who will win it: Mr Trump has no chance in Democratic Party strongholds like New York and California, while he is probably unbeatable in heavily Republican areas like Alabama or Oklahoma.
Michigan, with 16 votes, was one of three “Rust Belt” states that gave Mr. Trump his surprising election victory four years ago, largely thanks to his support among white working-class voters.
Hillary Clinton barely fought there, believing it was a fairly safe democratic state. The last six elections had turned blue and Barack Obama beat Mitt Romney by 10 percent in 2012.
Mr Trump’s profit margin was a wafer-thin 0.22 percent, which equates to just 11,000 votes.
He’s been arguing with Michigan’s Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer over her handling of the pandemic for the past few months.
The polls here show that Mr Biden is at the top by a wide margin.
The ultimate goal is to reach a threshold of 270 votes. If a candidate wins the referendum in a given state, he gets all of his or her vote and brings it that much closer to victory.
