Scientists have claimed in their latest research that a single cough drop can travel up to 6.6 meters and further in dry air conditions due to the evaporation of the droplets.
The Singapore researchers read: In addition to wearing a mask, social distancing is generally effective as it has been shown to reduce droplet build-up in a person at least three feet away from the cough.

A typical cough emits thousands of droplets over a wide range of sizes.
The researchers showed that large droplets quickly settle on the ground due to gravity, but can move to a meter with the cough stream even without wind.
Medium-sized droplets could evaporate into smaller droplets because they are lighter and easier to carry in the wind, and these would travel on.
