A -backing vegan restaurant owner was hit by a new scandal after screenshots of the company’s Instagram account broadcasting homophobic slurs when he revealed he had been spat on in the street for his political views.

The owner of Sydney’s Hale and Hearty plant-based cafe in Waterloo, Mark Da Costa, has sparked a backlash from the LGBTI community after posts from his private social account were posted to popular online vegan groups.

On the eve of the US presidential election on Wednesday, there was an exchange of texts in which Hale and Hearty’s report sent a badmouthed message to one of their critics.

“Get ready [homophobic slur], ‘Read the message sent from the company’s official account.

Hale and Hearty responded with a different derogatory homophobic term when a reviewer said the cafe had made enemies of the LGBTI community.

“Phew, at least make it easy for yourself to decide where to never eat in the area and make sure everyone I know knows,” one comment said online.

“You are not a friend of the LGBTI community.”

,Are you a [homophobic slur]? ‘Hale and Hearty replied.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, the business owner said the screenshot of the first exchange had been conveniently edited to remove the part where the reviewer called it “a fat C ***”.

But Mr Da Costa has apologized in the past few days for his self-known “derogatory, bad-natured, rude and abusive” behavior towards the gay and lesbian community.

The vegan cafe owner also announced that he had been spat on while giving a newspaper interview about his right-wing political views.

“It’s more than just slander,” he told KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Wednesday morning.

“I was interviewed on the phone and a guy came up behind me and spat in my face and called me ac ***.”

Shockjock Kyle Sandilands appeared to be on the cafe owner’s side, saying that a lot of people couldn’t handle someone having a different opinion about them.

“If you dare to disagree with others, a lot of the people out there are full of hatred and anger,” he said.

Mr Da Costa shared a photo on Monday about his cafe’s Instagram story, calling it the “Trump Safe Zone”.

In another post, Mr Da Costa told the vegans in Sydney to let themselves be fucked.

“We are a company interested only in offering a menu that is cruelty free and sustainable, and refusing to receive ransom for a group of broke left university students who believe that all people MUST think that way,” wrote he.

Mr Da Costa said he did not mind the haters during a live video shared on the Hale & Hearty Instagram page over the weekend.

“I don’t want your money, I don’t want your damn masks, I don’t want your vaccine,” he said.

“I just want these people here – normal people who don’t abuse one another.”

Mr Da Costa said his responses were driven by a desire to defend his family and business.

“I was angry because someone in that Sydney ward decided to attack my family and business … which I then absorbed and the anger grew,” he told 7News.

“It was completely disrespectful and unjustified.”

Prior to apologizing, Mr. Da Costa added fuel to the online fire by saying, “If you want Sydney’s best pancakes with a racist side, come to us.”

The saga began when a university student posted screenshots of Mr. Da Costa’s private social media accounts on a popular online group for vegans.

Social media users have also flooded review websites to leave negative reviews and comments.

“Here’s a message to the weak vegans of yours, Hale and Hearty is not going anywhere,” said Da Costa (picture left)

“You may have a few Trump supporters on social chat, but if most of them aren’t even vegan, then who will be bringing in the revenue after alienating your main customer base?” One person posted on their page .

“In a few years you will be out of business and used as a case study. You’re not even American, you utter muppet. ‚

Another said, ‘This guy’s a crazy case. Why should an intelligent person eat or drink in their home? The place will be closed within six months. ‚

Other loyal customers asked Mr. Da Costa to change direction.

The “homophobic” and “racist” social media posts by supporters Donald Trump and Pauline Hanson were then exposed, leading to further setbacks for the LGBTQ + community

“Seriously focus on your business. Your business is suffering. Stop all that political crap. Focus on the positive and exciting … you are doing yourself and your company a disservice by posting such things, ”one person wrote.

“I wanted to come to your restaurant and eat there, but I will move my business elsewhere.”

Mr Da Costa said the outraged social media users who leave comments see him as something he is not.

“We just want to spread love. We have created a venue for you and for vegans, and if you don’t show up because of your reading, we’re fine, ”he said.

“Anyone who hated Hale and Hearty and myself … to call me a pedophile because I am a Trump supporter and I support Pauline Hanson, call me a racist, bigot and homophobe, I will not say what you think of me”, he said in an online video.

“Here’s a message to the weak vegans of yours, Hale and Hearty is not going anywhere.”

But while Trump supporters and their MAGA hats are more than welcome in the cafe, Mr Da Costa says everyone else is too.

“Our staff are great and all from different cultures … it’s a Trump safety zone because it’s an LGBT safety zone, a gay zone, everyone, good fun,” he said.

For now, the move seems to be paying off as Wednesday night trading hits a record high for the business this week.

“That was largely thanks to Trump supporters who supported me,” he said.
