This Sunday (1st), the Vatican Secretary of State confirmed, not only that the words that Pope Francis said in the documentary were misinterpreted, but that they were taken from two different questions and reproduced as if it were only one answer.
The text states that in the first part the Pope answered a question of a pastoral scope about the need that, in the family sphere, people with a homosexual orientation should not be discriminated against. This is what the words refer to: “homosexual people have the right to be in a family; they are children of God, they have the right to a family. You can’t walk away from your family or make your life impossible for that ”.
The other part of Papa Francisco’s response is related to the Argentine law of 10 years ago on “same-sex marriage marriages” and the opposition of the then Archbishop of Buenos Aires in this regard. In this regard, the pope replied that “it is incongruent to speak of same-sex marriage” and added that these people should, however, have some legal coverage.

As reported by the portal Terra, the director of the documentary, Evgeny Afineevsky, who had already refused to discuss the process of editing the film, did not comment on the Vatican note.
