More than 93 million Americans have already voted early

More than 93 million people have exercised their right to vote until this Sunday in advance for the US elections on November 3, a figure that represents more than two-thirds of the total participation in 2016.

Data from the United States Elections Project, headed by Michael McDonald, an expert in politics at the University of Florida, indicate that as of this Sunday, 93 million 131 thousand early votes are counted in the country, among those cast in person or by mail.

Most states in the country report a record vote in this stage prior to election day in which the current president of the country, Republican Donald Trump, and former Democratic Vice President Joe Biden will face each other for the White House.

A poll conducted by the CNN television network among electoral officials in the 50 US states and Washington DC found that the votes cast to date represent 43 percent of the registered voters in the northern nation.

Nationally, the 93 million ballots sent so far are equivalent to 68 percent of the more than 136 million that were counted in the elections four years ago, when Trump prevailed over then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

“We are seeing a very energetic and interested electorate, and I think we are seeing an audience that is responding to a message that it is necessary to cast that vote earlier this year,” Professor Paul Gronke, who directs the Center, told the Vox digital portal.
