Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - JERUSALEM — The Israeli military said Saturday it carried out airstrikes on sites linked to Iran’s nuclear and weapons production programs across three regions.
In a statement, the army said more than 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets conducted coordinated strikes on Friday against infrastructure it described as belonging to the Iranian regime.
The strikes were carried out in three waves over several hours, targeting facilities in the cities of Arak and Yazd, as well as additional weapons production sites.
The military said one of the targets was the heavy water plant in Arak, which it described as a key site for producing plutonium used in nuclear weapons.
It added that a facility in Yazd was struck, which it said is used to produce explosive materials linked to the uranium enrichment process.
The statement also said the strikes targeted a military industries facility used to manufacture weapons and a site affiliated with Iran’s Defense Ministry involved in developing advanced explosive devices.
According to the army, some of the targeted sites are used to supply weapons to Hamas and Hezbollah. It also said a facility producing components for ballistic missiles and air defense systems was among the targets.
