Sasha Banks and Randy Orton turned WWE on its head with two big title changes at Hell In A Cell.

Though the Legit Boss deserved to make their coronation in the main event – more about their timed match with Bayley below – it was the Viper who stood tall when the show went off the air after a brawl with Drew McIntyre.

The Scot has been high on the Raw roster throughout the pandemic, and his fight with Orton was worthy of the WWE Championship, but his title reign was ended by the Apex Predator.

In one clip that plays over and over, Randy tossed Drew from the side of the cell through the announce table, and both men walked beyond in a key event that’s crisp and engaging.

It was a fitting end to McIntyre’s reign, even if it didn’t quite deserve the bottom spot on a top-level storytelling card from the three cell matches.

It’s unclear where these two will go from here as this really should be the end of their feud as Randy needs a new opponent to start his latest run at the top on the best of terms.

His latest triumph is a fully deserved one, as Orton was Raw’s MVP this year and Drew provided a fascinating slide through the summer and fall months.

Now he’s the best dog and there are delicious matchups waiting for a possible mania rematch with Edge once the Rated R Superstar is fit enough to return.

The best of the rest

Roman Reigns and Jey Uso delivered a masterclass in storytelling when they opened Hell In A Cell with a brutal, grueling, and beautiful I Quit Match.

The two cousins fought over the universal title and the pride of the family in a match worthy of the barbaric structure. Both men deliver emotions in spades.

In the end, Jey just said, “I’m quitting,” when Roman destroyed his twin brother Jimmy and saved his sibling despite the consequences.

Afa and Sika – the legendary wild Samoans – appeared surprisingly after the bell and crowed Reigns as the true tribal chief at the head of the table.

After such an intense opening, anyone who wants to be in second place would have a big job keeping someone busy.

Elias got off to a good start with his usual musical streak, though he blamed things on Jeff Hardy’s personal troubles before their match.

The couple tried their best in an impossible situation and made a fun proposition – one of the busker’s better in-ring endeavors – that ended when Hardy took the guitar from his opponent and adorned him for the DQ.

Miz and Otis had a match that was exactly what you’d expect until Tucker gave us the best possible ending for 2020 when he turned on his best friend and broke our hearts.

A briefcase from Tucky was enough to get his former Heavy Machinery partner on the count, which earned Miz a big win and the MITB contract.

After the bell, Tucker insisted he was the driving force behind their team. Otis stole the spotlight and made his partner the afterthought.

It was a commercial that ended when Otis attacked him backstage to get revenge – but the problem here is they’re on different brands just as they started the feud.

In a surprising move, Sasha Banks and Bayley didn’t make the show the main event, but they nonetheless delivered a definitive match of the year candidate and one of the greatest clashes of all time.

This was all it had to be, with inventive and brutal spots and a pace that distanced it from the opening contest while taking full advantage of the environment.

When all was said and done, the Legit Boss picked up the victory with a bank statement on the chair in a poetic moment that earned her the one title she had missed.

In a match prepared at the kickoff, Slapjack faced Bobby Lashley, who was losing for the US title, and another startling decision that made RETRIBUTION seem utterly terrible.

Mustafa Ali has all the skills to be a player in the main event, but the gorup has no momentum and appears to be dead in the water.

Something has to change because the group failed to make use of its early promise.
