A Ryanair passenger was labeled a “hero” after paying the baggage fee for a distressed mother in a heartwarming video on social media.

Ibiza airport staff reportedly told the mother of three that she would have to pay a £ 50 fee as her bag was found to be too large to be carried on the return flight to Stansted.

In footage filmed by a fellow passenger, the mother looks overwhelmed as her children run around in circles and carry a buggy, reports Mirror.co.uk.

When she puts her hands to her head and runs her fingers through her hair, a young man, who is also waiting at the desk, notices her fear and reassures her: “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

The tearful mother replies to his kind words before the stranger smiles and adds, “Don’t worry, I’ll pay for you” before handing over his card at the desk.

You can hear a man ask whether the size of the bagging money has changed in the course of the payment, while the mother’s older child says to his sibling: “No, no, mom is upset.”

The touching moment was shared on Twitter, along with the caption: “Well done to this young hero who paid the ridiculous Ryanair baggage fees for a desperate mother traveling with three children (who got no indulgence from ground staff).

“The flight from Ibiza to Stansted was half empty, not sure what difference a few centimeters would make.”

The passenger who recorded the video said, “As far as I could tell, the mother and her children were caught with a bag that exceeded the permissions given on their ticket.

“She was upset and quite tearful while trying to keep an eye on her children.

“When I found out what was going on, a young man walked up to the ground handling staff and heard them say, ‘It’s okay, I’ll pay’.”

The clip sparked thousands of views on social media and when asked if they knew the friendly man’s identity, the passenger replied, “Great kid, isn’t it? No idea who he is, kept himself to himself and acted honorably and discreetly with no fuss. ”

One spectator said, “What a legend! Karma will see him well. ”

Another added, “There is hope for humanity.”
