French President Emmanuel Macron said that a man killed a history teacher to strike freedom of expression, describing the incident as “Islamic terrorism.”
“The entire country stands with the teachers. The terrorists will not divide France. Darkness will not win,” he said.
Tweeters on the communication sites rejected Macron’s accusations, saying that he was ignorant of Islam, describing his statements as racist and that they coincided with his political and economic problems inside France, and that Islam was innocent of those accusations.
For his part, Al-Azhar condemned the incident on its official Facebook page, describing the perpetrator as an “extremist”, and called for the necessity to demonstrate the morals and teachings of religions that affirm respect for the beliefs of others, stressing that killing is a crime that cannot be justified in any way.
In his statement, Al-Azhar affirmed its constant call to reject hate speech and violence, whatever its form, source or cause, with the necessity of respecting religious sanctities and symbols, and avoiding stirring hatred by insulting religions, calling at the same time for the need to adopt global legislation that criminalizes insulting religions and their sacred symbols.
On Friday, the French police announced that she had killed a man minutes after he had slaughtered a teacher in a preparatory school in a suburb of the capital.
A police source told the French News Agency that this teacher had shown his students cartoons insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.
The French counter-terrorism prosecutor said he was investigating the attack in the Conflans-Saint-Honorine suburb.
A police patrol spotted the suspect attacker carrying a knife a short distance from the site of the attack, and a police spokesman said the police had shot the suspect, killing him.
Macron announced, early this month, that France must confront what he called “Islamic isolationism,” claiming that it seeks to “establish a parallel system” and “deny the republic.”
“In this radical Islamism (…) there is a declared intention to replace a systematic structure to circumvent the laws of the republic and establish a parallel system based on different values, and to develop a different organization for society,” he added in a speech delivered in Les Moreaux, a sensitive neighborhood in the suburb of Paris. Islam “is a religion that today is experiencing a crisis everywhere in the world.”
He said, “I do not want there to be any confusion or confusion,” but “we must acknowledge the existence of a radical Islamic tendency that leads to the denial of the republic,” referring to “school dropouts” and “developing sports and cultural practices” especially for Muslims and “ideological indoctrination and denial.” Our principles are the same as the equality of men and women. ”
In his speech, he announced several measures, such as forcing any association requesting assistance from the state to sign a secular charter, imposing strict supervision on private religious schools and strictly limiting home schooling.
His speech was widely rejected in Muslim countries, and his statements were described as incitement to hatred.
And the French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanan said, Sunday, September 27, that his country is fighting a war against what he called “Islamic terrorism”, in his statements during a visit to a synagogue near the capital, Paris.
On Wednesday, July 16, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that “combating Islamic extremism” is one of his “major concerns”, during his announcement to the National Assembly of his government’s general policy statement.
