French police announced, on Friday, that they had shot dead a man who had slaughtered a teacher minutes earlier in a preparatory school in a street in a suburb of Paris.
A police source told Agence France-Presse, that this teacher had shown his students cartoons offensive to the Prophet Muhammad.
The French counter-terrorism prosecutor said he was investigating the attack in the northwestern Paris suburb of Conflans Saint-Honorine.
A police patrol spotted the suspect attacker carrying a knife a short distance from the site of the attack. A police spokesman said the police shot the suspect and killed him.
Another police source said that the dead man was beheaded in the attack, but this was not confirmed.
