Urgent recall for batches of milk sold in Spar, Mace, Aldi...

The recall applies to batches of arrabawn milk that may be unsafe due to the presence of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria.

The FSA announced that recall notifications will be displayed at point of sale in stores that ship with the affected batches.

Enterobacteriaceae are a group of bacteria, some of which can be harmful to humans.

The Enterobacteriaceae test is used as an indicator of poor hygiene, process errors and / or contamination of heat-processed foods after processing.

However, the test itself does not confirm the presence of harmful bacteria.

The dairy products in question are sold in Spar, Mace, Aldi and Gala stores, among others.

Retailers have been instructed to remove the affected lots from sale and to display a recall notice at the point of sale in stores that sold the affected lots.

Consumers are advised not to drink the affected amounts of milk.

The affected batches are Arrabawn Fresh Milk 2L, Homefarm Fresh Milk 2L, Gala Fresh Milk 2L, Spar Fresh Milk 2L, Mace Fresh Milk 2L, Conbawn Fresh Milk 2L and 3L, all with a sale date of 26/10.

Clonbawn Light Milk 1% Fat 1L and 3L with an expiration date of 27/10 was also rejected.

Clonbawn dairy products are sold in Aldi stores.

The caterers were told not to use the affected batches.
