TIKTOK has stopped working for thousands of users around the world in a mysterious outage.
Online outage trackers started logging complaints about the problem from around 1:00 p.m. UK time (8:00 a.m. CET).
TikTok down – what happened
According to DownDetector, the online outage tracker, more than 3,200 TikTok fans have reported problems with the video-sharing app since 1 p.m. UK time (8 a.m. CET).
Users in the UK, Australia and the Netherlands appear to be the hardest hit.
Until we hear directly from TikTok, it’s impossible to tell what is causing the outage.
Reports on DownDetector suggest that the problem is related to username in some way. Some people write that usernames don’t show up in the app at all.

Others suggested not to load videos. It seems that the problem is related to a recent software update.
“The app has completely crashed since I downloaded the latest update,” wrote one DownDetector user.
“They say I have to change my username. I also can’t see everyone else’s usernames. I can’t watch videos and it tells me I have connection problems. ”
Another said, “Tiktok says I need to change my username and it doesn’t work at all.”
TikTok not working – is there an official answer?
TikTok has not yet released an official statement.
