Venus clothed in the sun: this week in the storyteller’s night...

As a historian of astronomy, my job is to find the stories in the stars every week. After looking at star maps and sunsets and moonrises, I look at ancient mythologies or astrological traditions. Sometimes it is the results of scientific research that get upset in my deliberations on how to find the story in the proceedings, but over the years it has become clear to me that all of this is about reading the phenomena for oneself.

What are the phenomena this week and what story can we make of them?

On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, the waning crescent moon will pass Venus, just as the planet Mars resists the sun every two years. While the moon meets Venus in the early twilight and looks east, Mars will stand on the opposite bank, a great warrior guardian.

Looking ahead, I can calculate the dates when the moon will meet Venus each month, and I also know that a total solar eclipse is coming in December. This solar eclipse will only be visible in South America, but it is an interesting story nonetheless, because when a solar eclipse occurs, the planet Venus, which is otherwise clothed with the sun, becomes visible in broad daylight. When this happens, it is as if Venus had dropped her veil, and this is where the great encounter with the Divine Feminine begins – but only when we are ready.

So this week’s phenomenon is telling me that Mars stands by and encourages us to take action and prepare to receive Venus when it is revealed at the solar eclipse in two months’ time. So this week, plan your vantage point, collect rose petals and poems and everything beautiful and beautiful, and enjoy a moment with the sacred stars of dawn to prepare for the unveiling of the feminine to come.
