In an exclusive interview with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) from the capital, Pristina, Abdullah Hooti expressed his desire to strengthen bilateral relations with the UAE at all levels, especially economic ones, and said: “We expect the UAE to open an embassy in Pristina.”

He expressed his hope to organize a joint economic forum between the two countries, in addition to supporting investments and encouraging airlines to operate direct flights from the UAE to Pristina.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo recalled the visit of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, Chair of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation for a refugee camp in Albania during the war between Kosovo and Serbia in the late 1990s, and the visit coincided with the birth of a child whose family decided to name “Fatima” is her, in honor of “the mother of the Emirates”, and an expression of great gratitude for the support of the UAE to his country.

He stressed that his country has promising opportunities in the fields of agriculture, tourism, banking, mining, energy, technology, education, health and hospitality, and said: “We can cooperate together as partners to reach other markets, so our aspiration for cooperation with the UAE stems from it being a trade center and the second largest economy. Among the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council ».

The Prime Minister of Kosovo – who previously held the position of Minister of Finance between 2014 and 2017 – expressed his hope to expand cooperation with the UAE and exchange experiences between the public and private sectors, which would enhance investment and trade relations between the two countries, which have an important strategic location.

Concerning relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Hoti – who recently signed a historic peace agreement with Serbia – indicated that the time has come for some good news regarding peace.
