If you have this blood type, you are in luck

Experts say that of the 7,422 people who have tested positive for the Coronavirus, only 38.4% were from blood type O-.

The research provides additional evidence that blood type (also known as blood group) may play a role in a person’s susceptibility to infection and their chances of having a severe attack.

According to another Canadian study published by CNN Arabic, people with blood type A or AB spend longer in the intensive care unit, with an average of 13.5 days, compared to those with blood type O or B, who had an average of nine days.

And researchers in Canada found that of 95 critically ill patients, a higher proportion of blood types A or AB – requiring ventilators compared to patients with blood types O or B, which was 61%.

“I don’t think this replaces other severe risk factors like age, co-death, etc.,” said Dr. Maybinder Sikhon, intensive care physician at Vancouver General Hospital and author of the Canadian study.

Sikhon, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Medicine at the British University, added, “If someone is blood type A, then there is no need to start panic. And if you are blood type O, you are absolutely free to go to bars and bars.”

The results of the two new studies provide “more converging evidence that blood type may play a role in a person’s susceptibility to contracting Covid virus and their chances of having a severe outbreak of Covid-19,” according to Dr. Amish Adalja, a senior researcher at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security in Baltimore, who He was not involved in any of the studies.

And a separate study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in June, found that genetic data in some Corona patients and healthy people indicated that those with type A blood were more likely to develop infections, and that those who had blood Type O were at lower risk.
