“A WA Health nurse in full PPE will board Key Integrity to wipe the crew member,” the statement said.

“The test results are followed up quickly and are expected to be available within two to three hours.

“There are 20 crew members on board the ship – none of the other 19 crew members reported any symptoms and the crew member isolated himself in his cabin.”

WA Health assured the Geraldton community that it was not at risk.

“The State Health Incident Coordination Center has extensive experience in dealing with ship breakouts, as evidenced by the recent success of Patricia Oldendorff’s ship breakout in Port Hedland,” it continues.

“An escape team is on standby and is working closely with the WA Country Health Service.”
