Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, the leading Islamic financial services group, in cooperation with the Fintech Hive Accelerator Program of the International Financial Center, hosted a series of quick networking meetings with a number of promising companies working in the field of financial technology innovation, for the fifth year on straight.

During these meetings, two startup companies in the UAE, and six companies from Egypt, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic and Singapore, were introduced to, which presented their offers and innovations, and participated in fruitful bilateral discussions with senior bank officials and experts for digital banking services.

The concepts presented by the start-ups varied between Islamic financial technologies, mobile payments, auxiliary financial services supported by artificial intelligence technologies, financing for small and medium-sized companies, and commercial financing via blockchain technology. Through these meetings, startups seek to have the opportunity to cooperate with ADIB to develop effective solutions that complement its range of advanced digital solutions to enhance the experience of its customers.

Philip King, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said: “The start-up community today has become one of the most important sources of innovative financial technologies, and they are the companies that are welcomed here in the UAE, where there is a comprehensive and active ecosystem that welcomes start-ups operating in the UAE. The field of financial technology, in addition to the abundant opportunities to establish and launch pioneering and promising companies from here, while the leading international companies in the field of financial technology come here with the aim of cooperating with these emerging companies, and this is the value provided by the networking meetings within the “Fintech Hive” program from the Center Dubai International Finance.

Collaborating with leading FinTech companies from the UAE and other markets is an essential part of this strategy, and through these meetings we hope to explore how we can provide these innovative technologies to serve our clients at scale.”

ADIB is one of the main supporters of the Fintech Hive FinTech Accelerator Program launched by the Dubai International Financial Center, with the aim of supporting the growth and development of the comprehensive ecosystem of financial technology innovations in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank is working to implement its digital transformation program, to keep pace with the aspirations of its customers, who constitute one of the most active customer bases in the UAE in terms of reliance on digital banking services. The first digital platform of its kind in the world targeting young customers, and the first bank in the UAE to allow the possibility of opening bank accounts remotely based on facial recognition technologies supported by official government agencies.
