The American company, Apple, is expected to reduce production of its new phone, “iPhone 13”, by about 10 million units, due to the lack of electronic chips globally, according to the “Bloomberg” news agency, citing “informed” sources.
Apple’s stock fell in after-hours trading, and reached 139.46 per share, down by 1.45 percent.
The company had previously forecast that it would produce 90 million units of the new iPhone 13 models by the end of 2021.
And “Bloomberg” reported that Apple told its manufacturers that the number of units will be produced less, because “Broadcom” and “Texas Instruments,” suppliers to Apple, are struggling to provide it with enough components that go into making phones.
The global shortage of electronic chips has put great pressure on the electronics and automobile industry, which prompted a number of car factories to temporarily stop production.
