In an unconventional and splendid incident at the same time, a judge in Umm Al Quwain Court paid the fine imposed on an Asian and his family for violating the UAE residence law because his son’s name was Zayed. The fine amounted to Dhs60,000.

It did not come to the Asian’s mind that his case would be closed because his son’s name was Zayed.

The judge paid the incurred fine, striking the most wonderful examples of giving, which the UAE society is known for.

The judge said “Zayed should not be fined...Zayed should be honoured.”

Later, the judge put the scarf he wore in celebration of the UAE 48th National Day on the Asian’s son Zayed.

In 2018, which was celebrated as the Year of Zayed, around 220 newborns were named Zayed, as the year marked the 100th birth anniversary of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founding father of the UAE.

According to a local daily, total number of newborns at an Abu Dhabi hospital last year was 5,477 babies, including 3,250 Emiratis.

Recently, in a beautiful gesture, the Police’s Esaad Card Committee has gifted a Saudi child, Zayed, who was born in the Emirate of Sharjah, a special edition of the discount card.

This came during a visit by a delegation from the Esaad Card Committee headed by Mona Al Ameri, Head of the Esaad Committee, to the child’s family at Al Qasimi Hospital in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Al Amari conveyed the greetings and congratulations of the Commander in Chief of Dubai Police, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, to the family and wished them and their newborn a happy and blissful life.
