‘Genshin Impact’ Update 1.2 release date, leaks and roadmap 2021 detailed

Genshin Impact Developer miHoYo debuted the gigantic update of version 1.1 in mid-November, and the company is already looking to the future of a new 1.2 update.

According to information on the closed beta test server for version 1.2, the update brings a snowy new region, additional characters and much more.

Here is everything we know Genshin Impact Version 1.2 and what’s coming in 2021.

When is the Genshin Impact 1.2 Release date of the update?

Genshin Impact Version 1.2 will be released on December 23rd. It is not known if the game recognizes Christmas in any way.

Is there a Genshin Impact Version 1.2 Trailer?

No not yet. A trailer for Genshin Impact Version 1.1 debuted two weeks before the update. Maybe we can expect a trailer for 1.2 around December 9th? That would be two weeks before the release date.

When are they Genshin Impact Release dates for version 1.3 and 1.4?

As far as we know, miHoYo plans to release important updates for Genshin Impact every six weeks. You already announced via a blog post that Update 1.3 will be released in February 2021. Update 1.3 promises to add the Lantern Rite Festival event that will be held in the Liyue region.

Assuming the correct math is involved, update 1.4 will be released in mid-March 2021.

Who are the new ones? Genshin Impact Version 1.2 characters?

We have not yet received full confirmation of what characters will be added in version 1.2. Recent leaks due to Genshin Impact Screenshots of the version 1.2 closed beta test server suggest that the new characters will be the Knights of Favoious’ Chief Alchemist. Albedo, and the adept / human hybrid character, Ganyu.

Albedo is supposed to use the geo element while Ganyu is a cryo user. Their preferred weapons are yet to be confirmed but are rumored to have either a bow or a catalyst.

It’s important to note that neither albedo nor ganyu were included in the lengthy eight-character leak, so more characters may be added in version 1.2.

will Genshin Impact Version 1.2 add new regions?

While Inazuma is the next nation to advance the main story, version 1.2 will add Dragonspine’s snow-capped sierra. The area lies between Lunar City and Liyue.

Previously, players were able to explore Dragonspine in the second closed beta test using a glitch that has now been fixed.

There appear to be a number of regional variations in leaked screenshots for the region. A screenshot shows a new breed of “Ruin” enemy joining the Ruin Guard and Ruin Hunter from previous regions.

will Genshin Impact Version 1.2 Add more story quests?

Most likely yes. But probably no more Archon quests will be added to advance the main story.

It seems that the region could give us background information on the Abyss Order. We can see a red crystal with a dark hue. This could possibly be the same type of crystal that was used to corrupt the dragon Dvalin during this time Genshin Impact’s Prolog. We could perhaps learn about the origins of the crystal and how it can be used to control creatures in this next update.

Or, given the release date, miHoYo could use this snow-covered area to teach Paimon the meaning of Christmas. Anything could happen.

What other changes will be added Genshin Impact Version 1.2?

In addition to the new region, there seem to be more activities for the players. A notable addition is a treasure hunt. In a screenshot translated by Reddit user Z-Drive, we see a chain of treasure hunts that ends in a “special” treasure cache.

This could possibly be a new event or a permanent addition to the Genshin Impact World. The treasure hunt is currently the only major change to the activity that is known in version 1.2. Given what was added in version 1.1, more activities are likely to be released soon.
