- Yasmine El Tohamy - Al Ahly striker Walid Azarou has joined Saudi side Al Ettifaq on a six-months loan with an option to buy.

Since joining Al Ahly in 2017 Azarou has made 89 appearances across all competitions scoring 41 goals and providing 15 assists.

He hit the ground running in his first season, making 34 direct goal contributions in 43 games.

The following season he sustained a hamstring injury which sidelined him for a big part of the season and was never able to return to his usual form his since his recovery. During these two seasons he made 40 appearances scoring just 11 goals and providing six assists.

Now under new manager Rene Weiler, the Moroccan was given less and less opportunities not only due to his performances but also because of his behavior.

The former Difaa El Jadida striker has had several falling-outs with the Swiss coach due to the lack of playing time, which forced his parent club to take action by fining him.


With the arrival of Senegalese forward Aliou Badji, who alongside Junior Ajayi, Aliou Dieng, and Geraldo, will occupy the Red’s foreign player slots, Azarou will be leaving Al Ahly for the time being and his fate at the club will be decided at the end of the season.
