GameStop’s tweet is embedded below.
While early demand for the PS5 is incredibly high, it will be interesting to see how the system performs until the end of Sony’s first fiscal year. The company hopes to exceed PS4 sales over the same period with a stated goal of 7.6 million units shipped by March 2021. To hit that number, the company needs to make sure it has the supply to meet that demand, so fans who are unable to get a PS5 should have plenty of options.
However, it remains to be seen whether or not this demand will remain high. Next-gen video game systems are a big investment, and some of the PS5’s greatest games are also available for the PS4. This could lead PlayStation fans to wait for some of the early demand to wear off and the system to be easier to come by without jumping through the tires or overpaying for expensive bundles.
Those who can’t get hold of a PS5 bundle from GameStop tonight will also have the option to get one from the retailer later this month. Earlier this week, the company announced that all stores will have at least two units in stock on Black Friday. It might not be as exciting as getting a console on launch day, but it would be cheaper than buying a bundle of unwanted extras!
