A number of Instagram users have fooled people into saying they got their hands on the PS5 console early on.

Thanks to a brand new filter that produces a fake PS5 box through Augmented Reality, users have been led to believe that some people received a PS5 before the official release date.

Sony Malaysia Originally the filter created by Instagram user @ARoneverything was featured on his Twitter page, but the tweet has since been deleted. The filter’s creator also recently looked at the filter’s increasing popularity. “I hope everyone is having a good time [the] new AR filter for the PS5 box, ”he said, calling on“ everyone to use this ethically and responsibly ”.

Many gamers have chosen social media to demonstrate their confusion about the filter. Some noted that they needed “half” [a] Day ”to realize that it was simply a filter. Meanwhile, others consider it a brilliant use of marketing for Sony.

With the release of the PS5 on November 12th, the company stepped up its marketing campaign and released a wave of new information in the past few weeks. Recently, many outlets received the console earlier and uploaded numerous unboxing videos for the system. Outside of the unboxing videos, the company itself has announced the console’s user interface, backward compatibility details, and the entertainment applications the system will receive on launch day.
