Motorola launches smart, rugged personal radio

Motorola Solutions is launching its next generation TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) device: the intelligent and powerful MXP600, nicknamed “Wolverine”.

A major mining company in New Zealand was involved in testing the new radio, and feedback was incorporated into the final design.

It is designed to withstand the rigors of harsh mining environments. It has a robust and lightweight design, innovative audio technology and connectivity at the highest level.

In tests, the radio was subjected to 300-ton drop tests, vibration shock waves, extreme heat, cold, and immersion in water.

The introduction of the MXP600 will help the agencies to flexibly develop their business-critical solutions and at the same time fully exploit the advantages of secure radio voice communication:

• Be heard clearly in the loudest surroundings. The MXP600 uses intelligent microphone technology to suppress background noise and has a maximum volume that is about four times louder than a typical smartphone.
  In windy conditions, the device automatically uses the loudspeaker as an additional microphone for optimal reduction of wind noise.
  When multiple radios are in close proximity, the MXP600 automatically eliminates audible feedback to enable effective communication.
• Speed ​​up device management to keep the frontline workers on-site.
• Over-The-Air Programming (OTAP) allows radios to be updated on the go and in minutes, eliminating the time, logistics and costs associated with traditional radio programming.
  OTAP is fast, secure, and convenient for maximizing front-line productivity and keeping them on-site.
• Flexible collaboration. Use your radio the way that suits you best with a smartphone app to scroll through talkgroups, send secure messages and have discreet radio communications when needed.
  The new M-RadioControl app offers smartphones a flexible way to work alongside the MXP600.
  The NFC chip integrated in the MXP600 makes pairing quick and easy, while Bluetooth 5.0 means that the wireless connection between radio, smartphone and other devices remains secure.

The MXP600 integrates the technologies that emergency services rely on to focus on their mission of keeping the community safe.
