Next Xbox games from The Initiative and Compulsion Games get Phil...

With the buyout of Bethesda, Microsoft now has 23 studios. Most of these Xbox Game Studios have several development teams and the next few years will certainly be good for Xbox Game Pass, and arguably the best the service has ever seen. In an interview with Gamereactor, Xbox Division Manager Phil Spencer talks about what turns him on the most about what’s to come.

Two new worlds to discover

With 23 studios, there are many new game projects at Xbox and we already know a few such as Fable, Avowed or the next Forza Motorsport game. But there are also a lot of projects under development that have not yet been announced and will be in the months and even years to come. While waiting for these announcements, Phil Spencer answers the question of what excites him the most right now.

Gamereactor : Without going into detail, which unannounced game from your studios are you most excited to present to the public?

Phil Spencer : I’ll give you two if that’s okay with you. One of them is Compulsion [Games]. When I first saw We Happy Few, there was an artistic style and setting that I found really unique. This is a young studio that is still growing and they are learning the business and what they are as a team. But when I look at what they’re going to do next, I love their ability to create new worlds and unique environments. It’s always something fun. So without saying too much, this is one of them.

The other one I would cite is The Initiative, which is our studio in Santa Monica. I played what they are up to. The talent that we were able to bring into this studio run by Darryl Gallagher is amazing, especially when you put together such an amazing group of creators and create such a culture that Darryl is trying to create there.

I’m incredibly excited both to be able to start a new studio and to attract the talent that we have. And the game they’re working on will be fun to announce.
