Nokia Mobile is one of Google’s most popular smartphone partners. HMD Global, the startup behind Nokia Mobile, received a direct investment from Google and partners this summer, with almost all Nokia smartphones being part of the Android One program. Nokia Mobile plans to remain Google’s favorite, an internal document sent to us shows. The same document also indicated that we may see a Nokia 10.

Due to the sensitivity of the document, we will not display it in its entirety, only in parts and write about what the rest of it says. One of the first interesting things from the documents is that HMD Global still aims to become one of the top 3 smartphone players in the next 3 to 5 years. As someone who has been following the return of Nokia smartphones since early 2016, I remember the same goal communicated back then.

Google, technology and services that Google offers are paramount. One of the sentences is that Nokia phones are pixels for every price range and that “Google delivers 95% of our innovation”. It is later said that HMD needs to become the best and preferred Google partner and that they need to master the Google offering to achieve this.

A section also shows the responsibilities that Nokia and HMD have in their trademark license agreement. Nokia’s responsibility includes setting guidelines, requirements and guidelines with regard to product quality, marketing, but also safety and human rights with regard to the manufacture of Nokia mobile phones. Nokia may also stop products or activities that violate branding requirements. HMD, on the other hand, takes care of the development, manufacture, marketing and sales of Nokia phones and must meet Nokia branding requirements.

Interestingly, there is also a section on live events and the organization of events that says “Don’t compare our products to the competition”. The key listed markets Nokia Mobile would like to win include (in that order): India, China, Russia, Indonesia, UK, Germany, South Africa, Mexico and the US.

The document also has a section that bans commenting on rumors about Nokia 10. “Nokia 10” is the only device mentioned in this regard in the document, which leads me to believe that the phone is genuine. Will the Nokia 9 PureView successor be called Nokia 10 instead of Nokia 9.3? Maybe the Nokia 10 is the ultimate Nokia flagship we’ve all been waiting for? We will see.
