It looks like the PS5 is being sent to media

We now have our first look at the retail packaging of the PS5 in the wild.

In the tweet below, Jeff Bakalar, co-host of Giant Bomb, shares a look at the retail packaging of the PS5. This is the first time we’ve seen either a member of the public or a press with a PS5. This could indicate that Sony is starting to ship the console to media companies.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen the PS5 in the wild. Two celebrities also show their approach. Rapper Travis Scott was the first to show himself off with a DualSense controller with the PS5, and just earlier this week soccer star Robert Lewandowski showed off a DualSense controller on his Instagram page.

Although they didn’t show the console in these snapshots, we assume they didn’t just get a controller and pretend they were playing for the gram …

We previously saw retail packaging for the Xbox Series X in the wild. Microsoft’s premium next-gen console retail stores were on display in warehouses around the world prior to launch on November 10th next month.

So far we’ve only seen retail packaging for the PS5 accessories in the wild. For the past two weeks, packaging for the DualSense Controller, Dualsense Charging Station and PS5 Heart Rate 3D Headset has been shown in various warehouses around the world. In fact, it was recently announced by retailers that PS5 accessories will ship before the actual console in late October.
