According to the official synopsis: After Sylvanas Windrunner was deposed as warchief of the Horde and N’Zoth was defeated in the Battle of Azeroth, he travels to Icecrown Citadel in the scourge-infested deserts of Northrend and confronts the reigning Lich King Bolvar Fordragon. She takes the helmet of the Lich King’s reign from him, tears it apart, breaks the veil between realities and opens a portal to the Shadowlands (the afterlife of the Warcraft universe). The Shadowlands have recently warped in their function. The gullet, a place in the hereafter reserved for the most sinful souls, now absorbs all souls.

Bastion, Ardenweald, Revendreth, Maldraxxus and the Maw are the five main zones of the game, with a huge city called Oribos at the center. Players should also beware of Torghast, the Tower of the Damned, an “endless dungeon” that sounds like a real experience.
If you have not yet experienced the Death Class, this is your chance as all of the races that were unable to access it before can now.
The zones in the game are now ruled by alliances that have their own campaigns for you. You can sign up to any of the alliances, but only after you’ve reached level 60.
