Home ” Vaonis presents its Vespera, a smart telescope accessible to all
The start-up Vaonis recently announced the launch of a mini version of Stellina, a hybrid connected between the telescope and the camera which had shaken up the codes of traditional astronomy when it was created in 2018. Bearing the name of Vespera, evening in Latin, the new product is a lighter version than its big brother, available at a price of around 1,000 euros on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, for delivery scheduled for Christmas 2021.
Since the health crisis that shook the whole world, sales of astronomical instruments have never been so good. And for good reason, between obligations to stay at home and limitations of movement, desire for the countryside and return to nature, individuals have never had so much need to escape, in complete safety. Their new playground? The starry sky.
Vaonis, a French start-up specializing in the manufacture of astronomical instruments, makes the observation: the number of uses, photos shared and orders has more than doubled since the start of containment. The startup therefore recently announced the creation of its second product, a miniaturized version of Stellina which is aimed at an even larger audience, and which is called Vespera.
Weighing less than 5kg, Stellina’s little brother has a more affordable price. A real technical and industrial feat in view of its technology which combines high precision optics, electronics and mechanics, as well as the most advanced on-board intelligence on the market. While Stellina is positioned in a high-end segment, Vespera should find a wider audience. Small but powerful, it can be used by any neophyte thanks to its ease of use and its mobile application. Users will be able to observe on their screens and in just a few minutes the galaxies and nebulae hidden in the night sky, then share the photos of their observations on social networks. In addition to being the smallest smart telescope in the world, Vespera is the only instrument to offer a shared and interactive experience around the stars, while respecting the usual precautions imposed by the Covid thanks to remote observation on a screen.
To finance the production chain of its new creation, Vaonis has decided to use the famous Kickstarter crowdfunding platform for the first time. Pre-orders are open from October 1 until October 30, 2020 from 1000 euros. Deliveries are expected the following year, around Christmas time.
