The best new games to be released on Switch, PS4, Xbox...

Halloween is approaching, which means it’s time for new releases to get a little scary. This week you can escape from monsters in Amnesia: Rebirth or meet them head-on in the first part of Doom Eternals DLC The Ancient Gods. You can also take a few runs at Rogue-Lite The Red Lantern or try out the game that started it all with the rogue re-release. Finally, Transformers: Battlegrounds will also be released this week.

Amnesia: Rebirth – October 20th

Available for: PS4, PC

This new twist on the Amnesia games is set in the Algerian desert, where you have to flee from the series’ branded monsters, solve puzzles and find out why the desert dwellers disappeared. According to developer Frictional Games, rebirth is also more about survival. Expect a mix of wide open and claustrophobic rooms as you try to survive.

Eternal Fate: The Old Gods – Part One – October 20th

Available for: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia

Apparently, killing all of these demons upset the balance between heaven and hell. In this new story, DLC sees you correct that imbalance. Of course, you will also face new demons. The Ancient Gods is actually a standalone expansion so you can buy it a la carte for $ 20 / £ 16. It’s also included in Eternals Season Pass which is $ 30 / £ 25.

Rogue – October 20th

Available on: PC

When we say a game is a villain.lite or rogueto like, it’s because of this landmark game from 1980. Rogue started the random dungeon crawl phenomenon and now it’s re-releasing it on Steam. Purists don’t need to worry though – it’s the same ASCII art-based game with all of the classic enemies, potions, and more.

The red lantern – October 22nd

Available on: PC, Switch

Speaking of villains, The Red Lantern is a blush-lite where you and a team of sled dogs try to survive in the Alaskan wilderness. As you drive around, decide when to set up camp, hunt animals, or explore abandoned huts in the middle of nowhere. You also need to deal with your and your dogs’ hunger and energy all the time.

Transformers: Battlegrounds – October 23

Available for: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch

This is a tactical game based on the popular Transformers toys that allows you to command Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and more on the battlefield. You are waging war against the Decepticons in a variety of areas from cities to forests to deserts. You can team up with a friend to command the Autobots in co-op too.
