Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War went into beta this week with crossplay enabled for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. And scammers have already been discovered who ruined the game for others – despite the progress that wasn’t carried over from the beta to the full version.

Redditor Madzuk went to the Black Ops Cold War submarine to release a game from the game clip in which a player obviously uses a target bot to knock down multiple enemies in the blink of an eye.

A cursory look at the more popular video game cheat websites shows Black Ops Cold War hacks for sale.

As you’d expect, the console’s Black Ops Cold War players disable crossplay with the PC to avoid cheating, as cheating is already the focus.

“Turn off crossplay,” Redditor told RoKeOps. “I’d rather wait a long time for a lobby than deal with these hacking ass clowns who couldn’t make a real match without hacking.”

The situation with Black Ops Cold War brings back memories of a similar situation with Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, which has been plagued by fraud since its launch.

Back in April we reported on how Warzone console players disabled crossplay to escape PC fraudsters – and now history is repeating itself with Black Ops Cold War even in beta.

Activision, of course, hopes Black Ops Cold War will avoid gaining a reputation for fraud like Modern Warfare and Warzone did. Infinity Ward has been criticized for not dealing with scammers in his shooter despite multiple waves of prohibitions and warnings. Right now, some Black Ops Cold War beta players feel better off turning off crossplay – just to be safe.
