In the past few days, we’ve started seeing pictures of the upcoming DJI Osmo Pocket 2 with an improved design and camera. The new DJI Pocket 2 seems to adopt the same overall design with a few tweaks here and there.

What the pictures show

Joystick accessories

If we look at the pictures we can see that the new bag 2 appears to come with a joystick accessory that replaces the old steering wheel on the original Osmo bag. In addition to a new joystick for easy control of the gimbal, there is also an additional button that can probably be programmed to suit your needs.

Bigger lens

Looking at the lens in the leaked images, it appears to be a bit bigger than the original from Osmo Pocket. This could mean that DJI fitted the camera with a larger sensor that switches from the 1 / 2.3-inch to the 1/2-inch sensor on the Mavic Air 2. If DJI went for a bigger sensor it would be great. This means some improvements to your footage, better zoom quality, improved photos in low light, better dynamic range, and more background blur.

Updated design

The design of the bag 2 has been changed slightly, with a red accent on the camera lens itself, probably added to differentiate it from the original Osmo bag, and an extra line at the bottom of the bag 2. It’s heavy in the picture to recognize. but it looks like the DJI logo has gotten a little smaller while the sharp edges have also been smoothed out. The plastic also appears to have a much smoother finish.

Pocket 2 also appears to have a new lanyard attachment hole that prevents you from dropping the tiny gimbal when in use. Sticking to the side of the new gimbal, it also seems to add a built-in microphone near the top with another customizable button.

On the other hand, the micro SD card slot is still in the same position, but appears to be connected by another microphone near the top and a possible indicator light just above the memory card slot. The display appears to be the same size as the one on the Osmo bag.

In the box

The leaked images also show us what will be in the box of the upcoming Pocket 2 and tell us that there will be a Standard and Pro package. The standard package includes bag 2, the carrying case, the new joystick module, USB-C adapter, the charging cable, the lanyard and the apparent handle.

The Pro-Combo contains everything that is included in the standard package, but replaces the charging cable with a double charging cable. The upgrade kit also includes a tripod stand, which appears to be a wireless microphone module with a deadcat and adhesive. It also comes with another accessory that looks similar in size to the wireless microphone but has a latch and light on the front.

What we already know

A few days ago, accessories for Pocket 2 were published in the FCC database. This gives a glimpse into the future. We already know that the upcoming Osmo Pocket will drop the Osmo branding and be referred to as the DJI Pocket 2, a trend we are seeing with other new DJI products.

All-rounder

We also knew there was going to be a base station called a Do-It-All Handle, similar to the one for the current Osmo Pocket, that you can use to charge it and place it safely on a table. The Do-It-All handle also has a tripod mount that allows you to put it on a tripod and everything else with the screw mount.

Wireless microphone transmitter

Something we didn’t see coming was the wireless microphone adapter that appeared in the database next to the do-it-all handle. The Pocket 2 will likely have a built-in microphone receiver that will allow you to record clear audio with little effort. The radio microphone is attached to your clothing similar to the radio microphone from Rode and has a 320 mAh battery.

Release date

Yesterday DJI released an announcement for an upcoming product that will be released on October 20th. From the video that DJI shared with him, it is clear that it is the Pocket 2. This makes it the fourth gimbal that the company is launching this year.
