Ford explains Mustang Mach-E E-Latch door system

To get inside you need to have the key fob on hand or the phone as a key. If one of these is spotted near the car, one can simply press the button (there is one for each door) to activate E-Latch.

The corresponding door is unlocked and opens easily. Pull handles can be used to open it completely – but these are only located at the front.

In the rear, Ford recommends using the handle on the inside of the door. Don’t worry – it’s finger-friendly: “As soon as a door is opened, it will not be closed again until it has been fully opened. So you no longer have to worry about trapped fingers. “

Leaving is not that unusual. To open the doors from the inside, you simply have to pull the lever on the armrest. The door will unlock so you can open it the rest of the way.

Hopefully there aren’t any problems with Ford’s new solution, as we’ve seen at times in the case of Teslas – most recently in Tesla Model Y.

Ford adds that in the event of a dead battery or no power, the doors can still be opened from the inside by pulling the lever on the armrest all the way.

Getting on without electricity is not possible – first you have to bring the electricity back:

“If you lose power and need to get into the vehicle, there are two front sockets in the front lower grill that you can plug in jumper cables. When the cables are connected, the front trunk opens so you can access the battery and charge it. ”
