“Orion” phone with Exynos 1080 appears on AnTuTu and beats S865...

AnTuTu found the first results of an Exynos 1080 phone in its database. This 5nm chip was briefly mentioned by a Samsung executive but has yet to be fully revealed, so this discovery contains some important details.

The CPU has Cortex-A78 cores and four A55 cores, the large cores are clocked with up to 3.0 GHz. With a CPU score of over 181,000, this phone outperforms the Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, which uses a Snapdragon 865+, though some S865 + devices scored higher – the Asus ROG Phone 3, for example, scored 185,651 so it’s pretty close to each other .

The GPU is a Mali-G78 as expected, but we still don’t know the number of cores. An estimate of “a lot” sounds about right, as the graphics sub-benchmark shows a score close to 300,000. That even surpasses the ROG phone by a lot.

The currently best Android GPU in the AnTuTu database belongs to the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra (also an S865 + mobile phone) and received only 258,171 points in the GPU test. This means that the Exynos is 15% faster. By comparison, the Snapdragon 865 GPU was 20% faster than the 855 GPU.

We haven’t seen what the upcoming Snapdragon 875 can do, but we can expect a similar boost year over year. This means that the Exynos 1080 should work very close to the flagships of 2021, especially in terms of graphics. And this isn’t even Samsung’s top chip for next year (that would be the Exynos 2100).

The 1080 is meant for premium phones, and rumor has it that the vivo X60 will be the first to use it. In this benchmark score, however, a brand name is missing, only the code name “Orion”.

In vivo or not, this phone runs Android 11 and it has a 120Hz display. The Exynos 1080 is paired with 8 GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB UFS 3.1 storage. The Orion is a well-featured phone, and the total score of 693,000+ tops the ROG Phone 3, the current AnTuTu champion with 642,671.
