The British network of cinemas, “Cineworld”, has temporarily closed all its theaters in Britain and the United States, due to the postponement of the release of new films, including the latest James Bond films, due to the emerging corona virus pandemic, according to what it announced, on Monday.

The network stated that the suspension of its activities begins Thursday and includes 536 cinemas in the United States and 127 in Britain, which affects about 45 thousand employees.

The group explained that the closure is due to the fact that the US markets are still closed, especially in New York, and also to the fact that production companies prefer to postpone the release of their films.

Among the most prominent of these works is the new James Bond movie “No Time to Die” (“No Time to Die”), whose release in halls was postponed until April 2, 2021.

The film was originally scheduled to be released in London on March 31, but was postponed for the first time to November 12 in London, and to begin showing in the United States on November 25.

The general manager of the network, Muki Gradinger, indicated that the group will announce “in due time any decision to resume work in these markets,” when the production companies decide to launch their films.

In turn, British newspapers revealed that “Sineworld” even directed books to both the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and the Minister of Culture, Oliver Dowden, warning them that “the sector is not viable” in these circumstances.

On the other hand, the opposition Labor Party criticized the government for not allocating more support to the film sector.

The closure decision constitutes a new fatal blow to “Sineworld”, which was already experiencing financial difficulties due to the stoppage of its halls for months due to the pandemic, and the continued weak turnout after returning to work.
