The Middle East and North Africa (Mena) digital payments market is expected to see high growth in the coming years.
Over time, the industry has recorded robust growth, with new providers, new platforms and new payment tools being launched in the region. Sensing the pulse, Al Khaleej Today announces the launch of Digipay 2020 to help set the narrative going forward for the digital payments industry. The virtual summit is scheduled to take place on two days - September 10, UAE Edition, followed by the Saudi Arabia Edition on September 16.
In a recent PwC survey, 53 per cent of Middle East respondents said they are shopping more online using their smartphone (computer 39 per cent and tablet 31 per cent) in response to the pandemic, compared with 34 per cent for all territories in the survey. The results highlight that while mobile shopping continues to be a growing trend here in the region, the impact of Covid-19 has forced
this change.
Consumers who were previously reluctant to use mobile payment channels discovered that purchasing goods and services on their smartphone was not only easy but a convenient one too.
