Bahrain won the Gulf Cup of Nations title for the first time on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia in the final.

Mohamed Al Rohaimi scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Salman Al Faraj had the chance to give Saudi Arabia the lead in the 12th minute but the Al Hilal midfielder missed from the penalty spot.

Victory for Bahrain came at their fifth attempt having lost four finals in the past. Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, are three-time champions and have now finished runners-up seven times.
