Jeddah - Yasmine El Tohamy - RIYADH: CBX, the official promoter of the 2024 Diriyah E-Prix, has announced Diriyah Company as a partner in the Formula E event, which kicks off on Friday.
The event, which marks rounds two and three of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, is expected to attract thousands of fans who will watch 22 drivers compete in an electric car race around the walls of the UNESCO World Heritage site at night.
“We are excited to sponsor and host the Diriyah E-Prix again this year in its sixth edition. This continued partnership is a testament to Diriyah’s commitment to accelerate adoption and inspire change in sustainable practices,” Diriyah Company Group CEO Jerry Inzerillo said.
“Through Diriyah Season, we will further reflect and showcase our detailed efforts as a hub for world-class events, a gathering place for authentic cultural experiences, and a celebration for Najdi heritage and hospitality,” he added.
CBX CEO Carlo Boutagy said: “To witness the start of the project five years ago and see its development, culminating in the sales of the first residential properties in Diriyah, makes me very proud.
“We are very lucky to have the stunning Bujairi Terrace as a backdrop to our race which tells the rich story of the Kingdom through a multitude of vendors in arguably one of the most beautiful settings in the world.”
The races are part of Diriyah Season, a series of events and experiences that aim to bring Diriyah’s 600-year-old heritage and culture alive. These include immersive art installations and exhibitions, culinary adventures, horseback riding, camping, and stargazing.
The Diriyah E-Prix race is part of Saudi Arabia’s investment in sport. The Kingdom has contributed to a 48 percent increase in weekly sports participation among locals, while the number of Saudi sports federations has reached 97.
